Out & About IL Archive

Out and About Illinois was an LGBTQ+ magazine founded and operated by Dave Barker in 2009. It was widely distributed throughout Central Illinois until abruptly ending in late 2010 amid rising print costs.

This magazine served an important function during its run, reporting on many downstate activities and groups. Serving as a source of news and organization, it truly lived up to its mission of, "creating a coordinated website and publication that consistently presents a positive image of the LGBT communities in Central Illinois that defies stereotypes."

Out and About Illinois' influence goes beyond print. Thanks to its work, the Central Illinois Alliance for Diversity & Equality (CIADE) was founded, and put on Peoria's very first two Pride celebrations!

A special thanks to David Gray for preserving these electronic copies of Out and About Illinois.
